Opportunity: Our client is currently looking for a General Manager based out of Edmonton, Alberta. The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management and success of the company. The company is expected to grow from $50MM to $100MM over the next 5 years.
Primary Responsibilities: · Minimum of 5 to 15 years of management experience in a larger complex electrical contract construction environment, with an emphasis on mission critical electrical both industrial and oil filed management including: · Capable of managing a fast growing $50MM to $100MM company, including coaching, mentoring, professional development of individuals, performance, compensation, management, hiring and dismissal · Being able to operate at both the strategic and tactical level with strong corporate/strategic planning skills · Ability to implement the internal company systems (e.g. finance, human resources) required to manage a fast growing company · Demonstrated business development skills to grow company to exceed $100MM, including contract negotiations · Experience managing project teams through the full life cycle of large, complex, high ticket electrical construction projects, including: engineering, specification, development, purchasing, delivery, installation, and commissioning of equipment · Experience leading and managing integrated teams of field project managers and engineers · Demonstrated successful experience managing electrical contract construction projects with strong knowledge through the full life cycle, including: · A working hands-on knowledge of design/build concepts from engineering through implementation and maintenance with an emphasis on integrated construction management of sophisticated electrical systems. · Experience in the RFI process, evaluation, response and submittal process, including site surveys and assessments, developing project scopes and cost estimates, creating baseline budgets and controls, contract negotiations, contract development and management, insurance and bonding requirements. · From baseline drawings, develop detailed estimates and specifications for labor and material costs, proposed pricing, generating detailed bill of materials, ongoing specification and purchasing of materials, payment of recurring expenses, pay requisitions, and regular reporting against plan, status meetings · Change order process including initial preparation, negotiation and ongoing management of impact of proposed changes on cost, schedule and deliverables · End to end change management process including · Ongoing management of several projects at once ranging in size from $1MM to $40MM, with as many as 60 to 200 electricians, demonstrated effectiveness managing client expectations and satisfaction via ongoing communications · Contract negotiation and management experience, including experience managing technical and contractual issues throughout life cycle
